last few nights have been weird. like living in a third world country. no mobile service, electric or water. pitch dark at night. people in the streets crying. national guard troops going through.

Laz, really really good to read you and Wayne have survived it. Heard about this, knew immediately it was gonna hit Long Beach hard and thought of you and Wayne. Sounds faaaaar worse than the last Hurricane you fled (and Wayne said “Nah, what can happen”).
I’m glad to see the damage is relatively superficial — did your house or Wayne’s survive okay? And what about nancy-boy? (By this I mean Reed, and I’m kidding, Reed. Everyone knows you’re the best Osmond!) Is Reed okay? Did his Chelsea apartment get flooded. (No, srsly, I have no idea where on the island he lives, so I ask.) Did he stick around in town or flee to Virginni?
I guess no one fled because no one expected this to be teh big one, huh? I mean, the last hurricane was generally a dud, so why flee Frankenstorm? Not like it was an _actual_ hurricane. :-/
But, top marks for your ominous description about being in dark, star-lit nights with National Guardsmen patrolling 7pm curfews and people crying in the streets — just sounds creepily evocative. Nice journalism. Keep posting the fotos.
And stay well, Lazlow. Chin-up. You’ll be back in the first world before you know it. ‘Cuz, let’s face it, what other doyen of radio would I be bothered writing to?

I know it’s not funny but I remember as Big Wayne said that he was waiting for disaster because then he can go back to work at carpentry?!
November 2, 2012 at 1:05 pm
I was just thinking the same.
Wayne must be high on life right now!!!
He’s getting back on his carpenter thing.
Real shame for those corpses waiting for his fingers to touch ‘em, but good news for Wayne.
Stay safe guys

Hey there!
Many thoughts to you guys. Stay safe and make sure Wayne doesn’t loose a finger like Chemical Chris did while rebuilding everything with a circular saw!

Thanks for uploading pictures Laz it’s good to know you guys are surviving. Boardwalk looks fucked it’s like the beach got pushed back a hundred yards. Hope yall fully recover maybe Big Wayne will be up to his bad ass beard in reconstruction contracts.

I’m on the north shore and on a hill so at least my house avoided the flood. Still, it’s been five days without power so far and it could be another week. It’s cold now so I’m sending my wife and kid to her parents in Atlanta tomorrow. I just wish I’d done it before the storm. The feeling of powerlessness (pun intended) is the worst thing. Not being able to keep my family warm, not knowing when we’ll get help. It really gets depressing. Now i have a week without seeing my son. Maybe another listen to the new Lazlow show will help!

Listening to the show right now, got to the part where Wayne predicted the hurricane would be very bad, and Lazlow was indifferent…if only time machines existed…

Glad to hear you are OK. Was in LB yesterday and Wednesday helping to evacuate my grandmother and clear out her house, and I will be back and forth to there a lot over the next few weeks, so if you need anything I will be around and could lend a hand.
Stay safe!

If it’s pitch black you may want to look at the stars.

What’s up with your solar panels? Did they get destroyed?
